Colour of The Month: Yellow

Filed under:Colour, Colour Of The Month, Inspiration — Tags: — Chalk Willow @ 2:04 pm

The colour of the month is yellow according to Global Colour Research.

Nothing is more dashing than a vibrant dose of colour and what better to lift a space than yellow? It is a fabulous accent whether used in furniture, artwork or even ceilings if you are feeling brave…

Beautiful against dark inky tones

Dead or Alive?

With beautiful images like these currently coming back into Vogue, is taxidermy here to stay?

Within Interior Design the odd stag head, set of antlers or leopard print rug tend to be overlooked. But with designers embracing the concept ‘bigger is better’, how long will it be until we are sharing our living rooms with a life size zebra? How far is too far? In theory I love the idea of a 1970’s love nest filled with fur throws and a grizzly bear gracing my floor but it’s something I don’t think I would ever feel comfortable with.

The high street stores were quick to showcase the taxidermy trend, offering us card stag heads and snuggly faux fur throws…. How will they filter this trend to the masses? We will keep our eyes peeled and report back with any must have items.

I have mentioned these before, but be sure to check out Abigail Ahern’s Cruelty Free rugs.

Colour Of The Month: Stone

Filed under:Colour, Colour Of The Month, Inspiration — Tags: — Chalk Willow @ 2:00 pm

Global Colour Research has presented stone as the colour of August.

Stone is the perfect backdrop to be mixed with a variety of colours including purple, burnt orange and petrol green. I particularly love its softening elements and it proves to work well in a variety of textures including rugs, soft furnishings as well as harder surfaces.

Summer Lovin’

You can take colour inspiration from almost anything, I love the gorgeous top left image of  balloons alongside girls in vintage swimwear. The colour pallet translates really well into a room, soft dirty cream with pops of rust and pink… team with a design classic chair and you are on to a winner! Thanks Design Files for the insp..

The Heart of The Home

Kitchens are often the number one space that gets most neglected. Adding personality, depth and intrigue is easy peasy. Decorate it like you would with any other room and don’t think just because it needs to be functional, it can’t be decorative. Add colour, flowers & artwork to make it personal & unique.

Some of my favourite kitchens I have come across – inspiring and tantalising to the eye
